Well, that was exciting.

So, for those of you previously unaware, LJ first made a change to their authentication cookie handling that broke LJlogin, and today they've made another change that fixes the problems that the first changed caused, as well as some other unrelated problems. So now everything's all fine again, and LJlogin is back in operation.

My thanks to LJ for cleaning up their mess in a way that didn't require me to actually make any code changes on my end, as I was continuing to have trouble finding the time to get much of anything done. Further more specific thanks to markf over in LJ-land for keeping me up-to-date on what was going on with sorting out the situation after the initial outcry had passed.
